Radio's were first introduced into British homes in the 1920's when the BBC was formed. Radios began on AM frequency's and FM came in in the 1930's. They would have been huge pieces of equipment at first, by the 1950's portable radios were all the rage.

 

This is a bakelite 1950's radio made by Bush. The bakelite case is made to look like wood which was fashionable at the time.

 

The radio casing is in good condition however the radio would need rewring to modern standards in order to work.
