From the 17th century through to the middle of the 20 th century, toasting forks were a popular part of the English Kitchen, designed to hold a piece or bread or crumpet to toast by the fire. These came in several different metals from iron to brass, and would often be hung by the fire and were frequently used.
 

This is an ornate hand wrought steel toasting fork.

 

Condition is good.
