The Victorians were very fond of entertaining and loved to have a glass or piece of pottery for every occasion or use. Elaborate desserts were popular at the time, and these ice plates would have been used to serve iced desserts.
 
This is a set of 12 ice plates with a frosted design to the edges and a star cut design to the centre. They would have been at home in a wealthy household who like to entertain large numbers of guests.
