An unusVictorian iron made from heavy cast  brass with original wooden handle. The back of the iron has a lever,  which when lifted reveals a cast iron plug, the purpose of which was to remove it from the brass casing and heat the plug on the fire, when it was hot enough it would be lifted from the fire and placed back inside the iron, thus enabling you to use the iron with out burning the cloth. 
 

Condition is good throughout.
