Victorian Tortoise Shell and Gold Hair Comb

During the 19th century, ladies would dress their hair with hair combs of various materials and designs.

This hair comb is made from tortoise shell and has gold pique decoration, which is pieces of solid gold inlaid into the tortoise shell. This would have been an expensive piece owned by a very wealthy lady.

The comb is in excellent condition with all of the tortoise shell intact, some small pieces of gold have chipped off as seen in photos.
