During the 19th century when fashion was for the very ornate, the commersial glass companies would produce lots of pressed glass items to emulate the rich cutting of expensive glass of the day. In the lower class households, they could purchase these pretty pieces and bring them out for sunday teas and special occasions.

 

This is a Georgian cut glass bowls with Van Dyke rim. Ovoid shaped dishes with a fan cut design to rim of the bowls known as 'Van Dyke'

The bowl is very heavily cut throughout and very good quality.

In good condition

 

There are, as expected, some small chips and flea bites to some of the cut fans.
