Ironstone ware, or most commonly called just ironstone, is a type of vitreous pottery first made in the United Kingdom in the early 19th century. It was developed by potters in Staffordshire, England as a cheaper, hard-wearing  alternative to porcelain.

 

These are a lovely pair of ironstone tureens from the late 19th century. Comprising of 2 tureens with lids and plate stands for each.

 

Condition is very good with no cracks or chips.

Large: 29cm x 21cm x 16cm high 

Small: 20cm x 13cm x 14cm high
