A good quality Old Sheffield plate candlesnuffer and tray.
Old Sheffield plate was the forerunner to electro plating, the fine sheets of silver were rolled onto copper, a difficult and time consuming skill.
This process was used from the end of the 18th century until around 1850 when it was gradually faced out.
This beautiful set of snuffers and tray were made around 1830-1840.
They are in good condition with a little copper showing though the silver on the tray.
