Late Victorian Leather Card Case
This card case is embossed leather decorated with gold gilding.
During the 19th century every gentleman and lady would have a calling card. If you called upon a person in society, the butler would ask you for your calling card, this would then be offered to the lady or gentleman of the house to see whether they wished to receive you or not. Hence the need for a card case, these would come in all manner of materials from mother of pearl, to tortoiseshell, silver plate, leather, silver and even gold.
The condition is very good.
It measures 10cm x 8cm x 3cm
