Large Pewter Ale or Water Jug

From the seventeenth century onwards, there was scarcely a household in Britain that did not possess some items of pewter: plates, bowls, tankards, spoons, candlesticks were just some of the everyday items made from pewter. 

Large pewter jug used in a kitchen or tavern for pouring ale or water. Made on the continent around 1890. 

It is in very good condition.

This jug measures 21 cm high and holds approx 1 litre of fluid.
