Turn of the century whistle, in very good condition.
 
Originally these whistles were used by the Boatswain, Bosun, on board a ship, A boatswain is a military rank and a senior level of the deck department on any given ship. The whistle or pipe is instrumental and can be 'played' to make different sounds to communicate on board the ship. Such sounds would  alert crew members to dignitary onboard whilst others would be commands such as, 'Away boats' and 'All hands on deck'.
 
There are 2 whistles available, both are in good order.
