An Art Nouvea oil lamp with Cranberry Glass Bowl and Shade
During the late 19th and early 20th century houses were lit with candles or oil lamps. The lamps would come in all grades from a cheap utility metal lamp, to elaborate silver or gilt lamp with ornate cut and painted globular shades.
This is a very tall elaborately decorated oil lamp with a fabulous art nouveau brass base with scroll and floral decoration. The bowl is panel cut cranberry glass. The shade is acid etched in an Art Nouveau design with a cranberry rim.
Condition is very good, there are some very tiny nibbles to the top edge of the bowl, ( see close up photo, but does not distract at all from this fabulous lamp.
Dimensions :68 cm tall.
