A Pair of Victorian Custard Cups
The Victorians were very fond of entertaining and loved to have a glass or piece of pottery for every occasion or use. Elaborate desserts were popular at the time, and custards would be part of this course.
Custard cups are small glasses usually with a tiny handle and would be used to serve such desserts as lemon posset or sylabub.
This is a pair of custard cups, very nicely made with hand cut panels to the bowl, sitting on a fine stem above a cut foot, and with hand blown handles.
Very good condition.
Dimensions: 8cm high with a bowl of 5.5cm diameter.
