A Large Victorian Oil Lamp
During the late 19th and early 20th century houses were lit with candles or oil lamps. The lamps would come in all grades from a cheap utility metal lamp, to elaborate silver or gilt lamp with ornate cut and painted globular shades.
This is a large Victorian oil lamp with a substantial brass base with scroll feet on a reeded column.
the oil receptical is in a vivid green opaque glass , and the carriage holds a globular glass shade with an acid etched design of a peacock.
In good condition throughout.
