A Large Victorian Hamper
Wicker hampers were used throughout the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century to store goods and linen. They were very popular in warehouses and stores as a way of transporting goods. Also used in the commercial laundries and the private laundry of a country house or large town house.
This is a large hamper with steel fittings, it would have been used in a commercial premises, or in a large country house for moving and storing goods.
