Small Early Victorian Brass Chamberstick
Candlesticks would have been used throughout the house as lighting in every room. They would adorn various places in the house including dining tables during mealtimes, mantlepieces throughout the evenings and bedsides at night. They came in various shapes and sizes and were made from a variety of materials including wood, brass, silver and silver plate.
This is a tiny brasschamberstick. This would be used to guide the user to bed after extinguishing all the other candles in the house. It would then be placed on the bedside until the person was ready to go to sleep. As this is a very small chamber stick it would probably been for a child to use in a house of somebody of a low income.
In general good condition with no wear to the brass but shows a couple of slight bends to the foot rim.
