Large Victorian Ink Stand
Before the invention of the fountain pen all correspondence would be done using a dip pen and ink. Inkwells came in all shapes and sizes and for all pockets, from the humble stone bottle to the wonderfully ornate bronze and silver inkwells
A large impressive glass inkwell on a very ornate brass stand with pierced decoration. The ink stand has two raised brass arms to place the dip penon and the whole thing sit on 4 ornate brass feet. This would have been in the home of a wealthy family and was intended to impress.
The stand and glass bottle are both in very good condition with no damage or wear to the brass.
