At the beginning of the 20th century it became more common place for a lady to use a small bag or purse, these initially would be very small to hold such as coins on a Sunday for church, or maybe a visiting card for calling on ladies during the day. This is a silver plated ladies purse, with a heart-shaped cartouche, above the heart is a garland in relief. The purse opens and closes with a push button and it has a chain and ring attached. The inside is lined with a brown material. The purse has a registration number for 1920. There is a little wear to the silver plate but is in good overall appearence. The linning has some marks, the clasp works well and the chain and hoop are in tact. This would have been used by a lady of moderate means. Dimensions: 11.5cm x 7.5cm
