An Early 20th Century Breadboard with Silver Plated Stand
Bread boards were a familiar part of any household and were usually made from sycamore because of its antiseptic qualities.
This bread board was quiet an elaborate one for the time as it had its own purpose made silver plated stand.
This means the breadboard could be used outside of the kitchen and would play a part of teatime in a modestly wealthy household
The silver plate is in good condition but is showing pitted marks under the board, possibly from when food such as butter has got under the board and not been removed quickly enough.There are some markings to the edge of the wooden board as well, but overall it is a good looking item.
