A Victorian Chatelaine Perfume/Scent Bottle
Chatelaine clips date back to the Roman times, and were very popular during the 19th century. The clip was hinged to enable it to hook onto a belt from the waist with a series of chains hanging from it. Each chain would be mounted with useful houshold items such as scissors, watches, thimbles, spectacles and keys.
This is a small chatelaine perfume bottle with a chain and loop and would have been attatched to a lady’s chatelaine clip. It is heart shaped and has faceted cutting all along the edge of the bottle, the cap is silver plated and is hinged to reveal a tiny stopper in the top of the bottle.
Condition is good with no breaks.
Dimensions: from the top of the chain 8.5cm, bottle measures 5cm x 3cm
