A Victorian Breadboard Advertising Allinsons Bread

A Victorian Breadboard Advertising Allinsons Bread

SKU: RJ00652
£50.00Price

Breadboards were a popular kitchen item in the 19th and 20th century. The most popular type of wood was sycamore, used for its antibacteral qualities. The fashion on the round boards was to have a moto carved around the top edge of this board, sometimes this would just say" Bread "or "Bless this house", in other examples the boards would be used to advertise a bread company such as Allinsons.

This is a very good example of an advertising board, with the words "Allinsons
Bread" carved around the edge. This would have been found in a middle to higher income family or a high street shop such as a bakers.
