A Fine Georgian Cribbage Board
The game of cribbage was very popular during the 19th century and continues to this day. Cribbage is a card game and requires a cribbage board as a marker. The boards were usualy made from oak and brass but the more prestigious ones were made from exotic woods and sometimes ivory and bone.
This is a very fine example of a cribbage board made from an exotic hardwood, and was made in Canton around 1820. The inlaid marker and panels are all carved from Ivory. It sits upon 4 turned wooden feet. This would have been used in a wealthy household.
The cribage board is in good condition. One of the ivory marker panels has damage as seen in the close up photograph.
