Two Late Victorian Chamber Pots

Two Late Victorian Chamber Pots

SKU: RJ00593
£55.00Price

Before houses had indoor toilets, a chamber pot was always kept under the bed of both adults and children to save a trip to the outside "privy" at night. The waste from the privy was not flushed away by water but collected in a pit that had to be emptied.

These two chamber pots, of similar style and age, are elaborately decorated in blue and white.  Blue and white pottery was very fasionable in Victorian England.  The early Victorian's prefered a paler blue, and towards the end of Victoiria's reign fasions developed for a richer more cobolt blue, as seen here.

Both pots are in good condition, with no chips or cracks

Dimensions: 27cm x 14cm
