Soda water was originally purchased from a shop or local supplier. In the large country houses or restaraunts and bars, they would produce their own soda water using a soda syphon.
 
This is a large Victorian soda syphon made from heavy glass with a metal mesh exterior covering the bottle to protect it, and metal fittings.
 
The condition is good, although it has not been in use for many years and is best used for decoration.
