Victorian Brass Letter or Note Clip
Letter or note clips were in popular use in the Victorian times. These would come in various shape and sizes, theY would all have to be constructed with a tight spring inside in order to grip the paper and hold it in place. Some letter clips were meant to be used on a desk for correspondance and bills, others would have a hole in the back plate in order to hang them on a wall.
This is a heavy Victorian brass clip with a floral motif. This would have been used in a relativley wealthy household, possibly on a desk or downstairs in the butler's pantry for notes. There is a hole in the back plate enabling it to be hung on the wall.
The brass is in very good condition and it has a tight spring.
