Late Victorian Antler Whistle
Whistles were in popular use during the 19th and 20th century for all manner of things. A policeman, fireman, station master etc would all use one in a professional capacity. They would also be used by a lady on her own as a security measure, she could blow the whistle in any situation of distress to summon help.
This whistle is made from the tip of an antler and would have been popular for shooting parties. It could also have been a gift to a young boy. It has a small ring attatched to the end enabling it to be worn on a watch chain or piece of cord around the neck.
