Victorian Staffordshire Pastille Burner
Hundreds of pottery factories were set up in Staffordshire during the Victorian period, many of them producing crude colourful figures, sold to decorate the more humble households. In a dark cottage in winter they must have seemed so bright and joyful, their colours brightening any room they were displayed, from kitchen to bed chamber.
This is a staffordshire pastille burner in the form of a cottage. This would have been in the home of a lower to middle income family.
Condition is good with only a little rubbing to the paint, it has no chips or cracks.
Dimensions: 11cm x 11cm x 6cm.
