A Victorian papier mache wall pocket, very finely decorated with Oriental scenes on each panel, all hand-painted. The sections are slightly hinged to allow notes to be placed inside them when hung on the wall. This style of decoration was very fashionable in the Victorian era. This would have likely been in a wealthy household.
 
The condition of the gilding and paintwork is very good. There is a small chip to the edge of the pocket on the bottom right hand side.
