These large harvester jugs were used to carry ale to the workers in the fields at harvest time. they are a great design with a large base and small neck, enabling large volumns of liquid to be carried ,and reducing the riskof spillage in transport.I pity the poor person carrying it when it was full as i'm sure they were very heavy, but much appreciated on a hot day.
 
This is the largest size made in this style of harvester jug, and has been lovingly polished.
 
it has several small dinges on he body and the handle ( see close uos) but generally is in good over all condition.
