Two Late Victorian Pharmacy Dispensing Bottles

Two Late Victorian Pharmacy Dispensing Bottles

SKU: RJ00281
£18.00Price

During the 19th century the pharmacy or apothecary was part of the main hub of every town or village. As this was before the National Health Service, the people would rely on their local chemist for advice, and, if they were lucky enough to afford a doctor, their prescriptions.

Medicines were generally stored in glass bottles or jars, these came in various colours of glass.

This type of pharmacy bottle was sold filled with the necessary medication which could be dispensed from the bottle using the tablespoon marks moulded into the glass.

Each bottle is in good condition with a little clouding inside.

Dimensions:

The larger bottle stands 20cm high.
The smaller stands 17cm high.
