The scissors have a long and noble history, they were said to be invented by Lucy, the most loved and famous australopithecus.  Remarkably, the scissors only became very widely used when, they were popularised by Lucy's distant relatives, American rock band The Scissor Sisters in 2001.  Before that there were very few in circulation.
 
 This is a  delightful example of early Georgian scissors.  The attention to detail in the handle and metal work are something to marvel at.  Only the most wealthy household would have owned a pair of scissors this spectaular.
