Edwardian Dinner Service 27 pieces
At the beginning of the 20th Century, the fashion came for simpler design in all things. This dinner service is an example of bridging the style between the very ornate Victorian fashion, and the clean lines of the Art Deco movement.
It has a subtle blue design with feathered edge detail to the serving pieces. The set compises: 11 soup bowls, 9 dinner plates, 1 large tureen, 1 medium tureen, 1 open serving bowl,1 large serving plate and 1 small serving plate. It would be in the house of a middle income family, probably saved for Sunday best.
This service does have some damage to it which is seen in the close-up photographs. The large tureen has a chip to the edge, and one of the tureens has a small crack at one side, a couple of the plates have a faint brown stain where they have been left in the oven at to hot a temperature. Please see close ups.
