Victorian Blue and Gold Tea Service of 22 Pieces
In the Victorian era, there was a fashion for all things blue and white on pottery designs, this blue started out as a pale colour in the beginning of Victoria's reign, progressing to a very deep cobalt blue.
This tea service is a very fine quality service with a deep cobalt blue border, edged in gold, and a blue floral design to all the pieces. The inside of each tea cup has a floral sprig, internal decoration of cups is another sign of good quality. It has a stamp on the back of each piece with a registration number for the year 1892.
The service comprises: 6 tea cups, 6 saucers, 6 tea plates, a milk jug, a sugar bowl and two large serving plates. This service would have been in the home of a higher income family.
All pieces are in very good order.
