Large Victorian Cheese Dish Carlton Ware
The cheese dish was a familiar part of most Victorian kitchens, used to protect the cheese from vermin and keep it moist. These would usually be kept in a larder or cool side of the kitchen.
This is a good example of a 1880s cheese dish of generous size, made by Carlton ware.
In good condition some minor chips.
