During the 18th and 19th century most adults would have a small pocket knife. This would be used for anything from aiding needlework to peeling a piece of fruit.

 

The fashion in the 19th century was for mother of pearl, this was used to decorate anything from a small sewing tool to an elaborate piece of furniture.

 

This is a folding fruit knife with a mother of pearl handle and hallmarked silver blade. Hallmarked Sheffield 1926.

 

The mother of pearl is in very good condition with no cracks or breaks and silver blade folds well.

 

Average dimensions: 6.5cm - 11cm long
