Cased Set of Victorian Cake Knives and Forks
From the middle of the 19th century, when we were in the midst of the Industrial Revolution, many silversmiths set up premises in Birmingham and Sheffield, producing electroplated cutlery. It was the fashion in the Victorian era to have vast sets of cutlery for everyday use and special occasions. The best pieces being used for afternoon teas and dinner parties.
This is a set of six silver plated cake forks and knives with mother of pearl handles. The blades have been finely engraved.
All are in good condition with no wear to the silver plate - the case isn't original to the set and therefore the cutlery is slightly lose in the canteen.
