A very fine quality figured walnut box with mother of pearl decoration, the interior is fitted with 2 lidded jars and 2 glass bottles along with velvet compartments for jewellery, and a long glass dish for hair pins etc. In the base of the box there is a secret draw accessed by raising a button on the interior edge.
 
This style of box would have been used as a travelling box for ladies and gentlmen of a wealthy household.
 
Condition is very good exepting for a small loss to the mother of pearl escutcheon.
