During the Victorian and Edwardian era, dinner partys were a fashionable pastime, ladies in society would compete with each other for the best dressed table, this brought about an increase in the manufacture of items to be used at the table. One of these things would be silver and silver plated cutlery to serve the food. All manner of tools were used, from asparagus tongs to ornate serving forks and spoons, of every size and shape.
 
This is a very fine quality pair of serving spoons made by Walker & Hall, the silver plated bowls have a fine chased decoration and the handles are made from carved ivory. This would have been in the house of a wealthy family, these leather cased items were popular as wedding presents.
 
In very good condition throughout. No ware to the silver plate and the box closes well. The interior of the box in in good condition.
