Stoneware Hot Water Bottle

Stoneware Hot Water Bottle

SKU: RJ00319
£20.00Price

During the 19th century most houses did not have any form of central heating. The stoneware foot warmer was a much needed invention during winter. Water would be boiled on the stove and poured into the bottle, it was then sealed with a screw top. These items would last for decades, the only maintenance they required was a replacement washer every year or so.

This footwarmer is made from stoneware pottery; a robust material, and would have been manufactured in Staffordshire, England. Used in most households but particularly those in the lower income bracket.

In very good condition.

Dimensions: 23cm wide x 12cm high
