Victorian Mahogany-Handled Steel Corkscrew with Brush

Victorian Mahogany-Handled Steel Corkscrew with Brush

SKU: RJ00305
£35.00Price

Corkscrews were part of the general equipment of a middle to upper class society in the 19th century. Wine drinking was only a pastime of the wealthy, the poorer households would drink beer and cider, as the ingredients for these drinks were cheap and readily available, unlike grapes which required a green house or orangerie to grow in the British weather.

This is a steel corkscrew with a mahogany handle and brush, the brush was used to clear any dust or mould from the wax covering the cork.

In reasonable condition.

Dimensions: length 13cm x 14cm wide
