In the Victorian and Edwardian period, it was popular for wealthy gentleman to go to shooting parties, and also have a games room in their own homes to play billiards, snooker or cards. Ladies were very rarely allowed to attend.  The shooting lodges would be equipped with a bar and gentleman would often drink ale from silver plated or glass tankards.

 

This is a very good quality silver plated tankard from the end of the Victorian period, and would have used by a gentleman of wealth.

 

In very good condition with no ware to the silver plate or slits to the body.

 

Dimensions: 12 cm wide including handle x 12cm high
