Victorian Hand Carved and Gilded Candlesticks
Candlesticks and candelabra would have been used throughout the house as lighting in every room. They would adorn various places in the house, including dining tables during mealtimes, mantle pieces throughout the evenings, and bedsides at night. They came in various shapes and sizes and were made from a variety of materials including wood, brass, silver and silver plate.
This is a pair of early 19th century, hand-carved and gilded, tall candlesticks. This type of candlesticks would have been used in a large country or town house.
The gilding is in good condition. One candlestick has an ancient repair to the top section, but is quiet sound.
