A Large Victorian Cut Glass Sugar or Sweetmeat Bowl
The Victorians were very fond of sugar and thereore the sugar bowls were very large in comparison to a modern day sugar bowl, these large bowls were also used for bon bons and crystalised fruit, another favourite of the sweet-toothed Victorians.
This is a large-footed bowl used for sugar or sweet fancies, with cut decoration and a gadget marked foot dating it to the end of the 19th century. This would have been used in a reasonably wealthy household or even below stairs for the staff.
