A Complete Large Georgian Ox Bone Chess Set
The history of chess is believed to date back over 1500 years, chess evolved into roughly its current form in the 15th century. The chess pieces come in many designs depending on the country where it was made in. In Britain we favoured the Staunton and the barley corn design.
This is a full set of English chess pieces, made from dyed and natural ox bone in the barley corn design. The board is not included in this set.
All the pieces are in good condition apart from one rook which has had the original flag glued back on some time ago, as is often the case with a set of this age, there is some wear to the red staining.
