An Early 20th Century Walking Stick/ Cane
Most gentlemen in the 19th and early 20th century would have carried a cane. Canes would rarely been used as a walking aid, as anybody at this time who had problems walking would have used a crutch. The cane was mostly used by gentlemen for affectation, or as a form of defence against dogs and ruffians.
This is a natural bamboo cane with silver fittings, the silver hallmarks are a little rubbed but it dates to around 1915. This type of stick would have been owned by a gentleman or lady of average means.
There are no splits or cracks to this stick. The silver does have some very tiny dinges and the cane has some scuffs to the wood, but the overall appearence is good.
