Early 20th Century Cast Iron Scales
During the 19th and 20th century a popular piece of equipment in every kitchen would have been a set of weighing scales, usually made from cast iron, and sometimes brass.
This is a black cast iron kitchen scale which has been painted cream many decades ago, it has a shallow pan for placing the dry goods on, noo weights. This type of scale would have been in most households during the latter part of the 19th century, through to the middle of the 20th century.
There are no breaks to the scales, but it has been painted several years ago and the paint is now chipped.
