Victorian Decanter

Victorian Decanter

SKU: RJ00611
£40.00Price

Until the 1670s, wine was served at the table in jug or green glass bottle. The decanter started to appear after 1670 and usually took a jug form, it wasn't until the middle of the 1700s that decanters were seen in a form we are more familiar with now.

This is a globe and shaft decanter from the end of the Victorian period. It has cut shoulders and a single row of oval cuts to the widest part of the globe, and also a cut design to the base. The stopper is cut in the same style.

The decanter is in very good condition with no chips or cracks.

Dimensions: 26cm x 12cm
