Victorian Globe Shaped Decanter
Until the 1670s wine was served at the table in jug or green glass bottle. The decanter started to appear after 1670 and usually took a jug form, it wasn't until the middle of the 1700s that decanters were seen in a form we are more familiar with now.
This is a Victorian globe shaped decanter, the surface of the decanter is heavily cut with an oval thumb cut shape in three rows around the body, and a checkered cut all the way along the neck, the stopper also has thumb cuts all the way around. This would have been used in a family of middle to upper income.
