Late Victorian Cut Decanter
Until the 1670s wine was served at the table in jug or green glass bottle. The decanter started to appear after 1670 and usually took a jug form, it wasn't until the middle of the 1700s that decanters were seen in a form we are more familiar with now.
This decanter is from the late Victorian period. It has a globe shape, the body of the decanter has a hatched cut design, whilst the neck has long panel cuts, the stopper is a faceted design. This would have been used in a middle to high income house or establishment.
The condition is very good, no chips or cracks to either the decanter or stopper.
