Art Deco Blue Glass Vanity Set

Art Deco Blue Glass Vanity Set

SKU: RJ00590
£35.00Price

The dressing table and vanity sets have a long history as a status symbol of high fasion. Few other pieces of furniture and associated paraphenalia have worked so hard to keep up with changing societal trends. Cosmetic boxes predate the dressing table, and it wasn't until the late 1700s that someone placed the box on a table, and vanity finally had it's own  piece of furniture dedicated to it.  By the mid 1800's the dressing table, complete with vanity sets, was the must have item of any woman of moderate to great means.  Dressing table sets, were used exclusively by women,  as gentlemen would have stood up to shave and groom, and men's vanity sets comprised a tall stand with a shaving bowl, and a mirror, with attachments to hold soap, razors and a shaving brush.

This Art Deco blue glass dressing table set was a Czech (then Bohemia) import, and would have been owned by someone of moderate means.  Bohemian glass was once internationally recognised for craftmanship, beauty and innovative designs.

The set is comprised of:

A pair of candlesticks

Three covered pots

A large tray

A smaller pin tray

The set is in excellent condition

Dimensions: Tray measures 32cm x 21cm
